"MO" NOGUCHI MEMORIAL AWARD   

     Each year's top candidate who demonstrates exceptional scholastic achievement and history of community service will receive the Moriaki "Mo" Noguchi Award, in honor of one of the founders of CJAAA and one of the original architects of the Scholarship Program. The award consists of our highest scholarship amount, up to $3000. More about Mo Noguchi. 


GEORGE KONDO MEMORIAL AWARD   

     The candidate with the strongest community service record will receive the George Kondo Award, in honor of its namesake's tireless devotion to the Japanese-American community. The award consists of our highest scholarship amount, up to $3000. The committee will decide each year if there is a candidate worthy of this distinction. More about George Kondo.


YORI WADA MEMORIAL AWARD

A one-time award will be given this year to the applicant with the most outstanding record of public service. This scholarship is being given in honor of Yori Wada, former UC Regent, who recently passed away.The award will be at least $2000. More about Yori Wada.


JAPAN SCHOLARSHIP

     The CJAAA Japan Scholarship was established for Japanese-Americans students who wish to study abroad in Japan. It is intended to assist those who otherwise might be discouraged by the high cost. Initial selection of eligible applicants will be done through the University of California Education Abroad Program (EAP) at each individual UC campus. Please contact your local EAP office to apply for study in Japan. Eligible applicants should contact us after receiving a copy of their acceptance letter from the University of California EAP. The amount awarded each year is dependent upon the amount of money available annually in our fund, and is expected to range between $2500 and $5000 each year. The minimum grade point average to be eligible for this scholarship is 3.5.  


HONORABLE MENTIONS AWARDS

     As our endowment fund allows, we will acknowledge candidates with Honorable Mention Awards in amounts varying from $250 to $750. In addition, these recipients will be among the honored guests at our annual Big Game Dinner and local recognition luncheon.
